My child needs a filling. I prefer a white filling, because I don’t want to put mercury in her body, but my dentist says children can’t have white fillings. Is that accurate?

Penelope,
While children can have white fillings (also called composite fillings), it isn’t always an easy thing to accomplish. The child has to stay completely still during the process. Not even their tongue can get on the filling material. You’ll know best while your child can handle that.
I would speak to a holistic dentist who is comfortable working with children. They only place white fillings, so they’ll likely be comfortable placing composite fillings on your daughter.
