I had sedation during a recent appointment with an endodontist and loved it. I thought it would be useful for other things as well, but my dentist doesn’t believe in sedation dentistry for regular appointments. He thinks I’m “adult enough” to get through dental appointments without what he calls “a crutch”. I feel like it should be my decision. Can it be used for regular appointments?

Syriana,
As long as there aren’t any medical reasons not to do it, then yes, I believe it should be your choice. However, that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to convince your current dentist.
There are plenty of adults who use sedation for every appointment, because they struggle with dental fear. If your dentist is unwilling to work with you, it is probably time to find a different denitst.
There are different levels of sedation, so it’s not like you’ll have to get an IV everytime (unless you want that). Call around to some dentists and see what they offer. find a level of sedation you’re comfortable with.
