My dentist was doing a filling when he changed his mind and said he needed to do a root canal and crown. In the middle of it he snapped his file into my tooth. He worked to get it out for a bit and then said he couldn’t and would have to leave it there. There was nothing I could do about it and I’m horrified. I’ve heard holistic dentists care more about your whole body. Would they help me get it out?

Miranda,
It’s possible that the cavity was larger than the x-ray revealed and that’s why he had to switch mid-procedure. I’m not sure why the file broke, but it does happen. Sometimes it’s a faulty file. Sometimes it’s a faulty file. Sometimes it’s dental error. Sometimes it’s just bad luck.
I understand your frustration, but it could be that the dentist was afraid he’d do more damage by getting it out. You’re right that a holistic dentist cares about the whole body. If you’d be more comfortable getting a second opinion with one, it certainly couldn’t hurt.
Also, your dentist is ethically required to work and give another dentist all the information about your case that is available.
