Is it safe to take out mercury fillings?

I’m not comfortable with having mercury in my mouth. I think I want to have them removed and put in white fillings instead, I just wanted to make sure taking them out was safe.

Dennis,

It is OK to remove your mercury fillings. However, you’ll need to do it taking certain precautions. You’ll want to be sure your dentist knows how to do a sanitary amalgam removal. He’ll need to use a dam to keep you from breathing in any mercurial fumes.

If your dentist doesn’t know how to do a sanitary removal, I suggest you see a holistic dentist. They know exactly how to remove the mercury fillings safely.

If you do decide to do that, you’ll find the white fillings to be much better for your teeth. While amalgam fillings weaken your teeth, the composite (white) fillings strengthen them.
