Can I get high without my dentist knowing?

I’m really afraid of the dentist. Like ready to freak out afraid. I know I’m a dude and shouldn’t be, but there you go.  Getting high relaxes me.  If I was high when I went to the dentist, would he know? I’ve got a gigantor toothache

Dear Anonymous,

I think every dentist has seen a stoned patient.  It’s a pretty obvious drug.  Your eyes get a certain glaze and it has a very distinctive smell.  You generally don’t have to worry about a dentist turning you in for something like that. If you were putting someone else in danger, they might mention it to you.  For instance, if you’re high and driving, they might ask you to call someone to take you home.

I’m really glad you’re considering going to a dentist. If you’re in pain, there is a likely an infection there.  I have a solution for you that will help way more than marijuana.  Try sedation dentistry.  You can something strong, like oral conscious sedation. You’ll have a completely pain free appointment. In fact, you likely won’t even remember the appointment.
