Woke up with a broken tooth

I’ve been under a lot of stress and I think I must have been grinding my teeth because I woke up with a broken tooth. What do i do?

Amelia L. – Georgia

Amelia,

You’ll need to get this looked at right away.  The tooth will need to be crowned.  If there was an underlying infection or decay that led to the broken tooth, this will need to be dealt with as well.

If you don’t have a dentist that can see you right away, I’d look for an emergency dentist. They will almost always see you the same day, even if you’re not a patient.

Don’t overlook the grinding. This will continue to cause problems for you unless it is addressed. There are mouth guards you can get that will be customized to your bite and will protect your teeth from the effects of your bidning.
