Malory,
The problem with the toothpaste won’t be with the porcelain veneers. The veneers are made of material hard enough where they won’t be affected. However, the composite bonding material is not as hard. It can be scratched. It will degrade the bonding around your veneers creating a mini ditch. This will pick up stains and be vulnerable for decay.
Your cosmetic dentist should have mentioned to use a cosmetic toothpaste, such as Supersmile Toothpaste. It is gentle on enough on the composite material. It also does a great job removing stains from your veneers without damaging them.
Now, if you have composite veneers instead of porcelain veneers, then you may need to have them looked at. It may mean that you’ve scratched the surface of your veneers and they will begin to pick up stains.
