I need to get a tooth filled. I’m going to school here in the United States, but my aunt is worried I’ll be loaded with mercury if I get my tooth filled here. She wants me to wait until spring break and then go home overseas where I can get it filled without mercury. I’m told there are holistic dentists here. Are they the same as the ones overseas?

PinTip,
It sounds like your aunt cares about you very much and wants to be certain you get the healthiest care possible. It’s nice to have someone like that looking out for you. To put your and her mind at ease there are many holistic dentists here as well as dentists who don’t consider themselves holistic that are still mercury free. So, you’ll certainly be able to get a composite filling that she’ll be comfortable for you to have placed. I recommend you do a search for “Holistic Dentist” or “Mercury Free Dentist”.
I’m not going to agree with your lovely aunt about putting off treatment until spring break. This could blow up into an infection too quickly. Instead of a simple filling you could end up with a root canal and dental crown.
It’s always in your favor to treat things at the first sign of a problem. The longer you wait, the greater chance you have of needing a more invasive and more expensive treatment.
