Many of us have experienced feeling like we were being hurried through a dental appointment, only to see the dentist for a few minutes in the end. Dr. Embury doesn’t believe in the assembly line method. He won’t rush you through. He is patient, actively listens to you, and makes sure there is ample time for your dental visit.
What we do on your first visit depends on your needs. If you just need a routine check-up and cleaning, we’ll schedule to get that done. Plan on about an hour and a half for that appointment.
However, if it’s been a while since you’ve had a dental appointment or if you’ve told us about special needs you have, we’ll focus on that for your first appointment and schedule you later for a cleaning. Dr. Embury will be spending about an hour with you with a very thorough examination.
Upon arrival, our friendly team at the front desk will greet you. From there, we will take you to an exam room where you can expect the following:
- We will discuss your dental history.
- We’ll get x-rays, photos, and a intraoral scan with the iTero scanner.
- We’ll do a cancer screening.
- Dr. Embury will give you a thorough exam, including your jaw and bite and how they work together when you chew.
- He will allow you to discuss your concerns with him and give him your input.
Before you leave, you will know the planned course for your individualized treatment. Then, one of our front desk team members will schedule your next appointment. If you have complex restorative needs, we may need to schedule a separate consultation appointment after Dr. Embury thoroughly reviews all your records, and to give you time to ask questions and decide on treatment options.

What If I Am a Fearful Patient?
Unlike some dentists, Dr. Embury enjoys seeing fearful patients. He takes great pride in helping his patients feel good about having dental treatment done. In fact, if he can get you to say you enjoyed your appointment at the end, he feels a greater level of satisfaction.
