I recently learned that my silver fillings are really filled with mercury. Mercury! Whose brilliant idea was it to use a toxic substance to fill in holes in our bodies? Now that I know, I want it out, but my dentist says it is safer to leave them in. I think not. What other options are there?

Rocco,
There is such a thing as sanitary amalgam removal. Amalgam is the medical term for silver/mercury fillings. Not all dentists know how to do (or even care to do) sanitary removal. Your best bet is to locate a holistic dentist in your area. They’ll only do mercury free fillings and will know how to safely remove the fillings you do have.
I have to say, it doesn’t sound like you and your dentist are anywhere close to being on the same page in regards to your overall health. We are finding that dental and medical health are connected more than we ever imagined. You might be better served with a dentist who does more than just plug holes.
