I have avoided the dentist for like….um…forever. The last time I went my parents took me. I know I have some cavities. I’m sure I have other problems as well. If you can’t tell, I don’t like the dentist’s office. I keep hearing about sedation. Will it let me do a lot of work at once, so I don’t have to go very often?

Miranda,
You’re not alone in your distaste of going to the dentist’s office. Often people who have some form of dental anxiety, had an unpleasant experience as a child. Because you haven’t been back since childhood, I’m guessing that is something that happened to you.
Sedation will be a great option for you. Many fearful patients find it opens a whole new world for them and actually start to ….(gasp! Dare I say it?) like the dentist.
You’ll find you can get a lot more work done with sedation than without. That will be an exciting option for you as it will mean fewer appointments. However, you’ll likely need an initial consultation. Don’t worry. They’re painless.
